As regional and local turmoil and unrest cause population displacement, distress, and strain on already limited resources, Sanita partnered with Debbane Saikali Group’s Buckler Pest Control in April 2026 to support 19 refugee shelters in the Keserwan region. These shelters house over 600 families escaping Beirut and the South of Lebanon and seeking refuge in safer regions.
With over one million people—nearly 20% of the population—displaced by the ongoing war, the pressure on shelters continues to intensify. Beyond providing a place to stay, these facilities must maintain safe and hygienic conditions for thousands of individuals living in close quarters.
Preserving Health, Hygiene, and Dignity
Sanita supplied a range of essential household care hygiene products, including detergents and other cleaning solutions. These contributions support shelter operators in maintaining sanitary environments, an essential factor in safeguarding the health and well-being of more than 2,500 displaced individuals.
Aligning with Sustainable Development Goals
This initiative reflects a broader commitment to global development priorities and aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on:
- SDG 1 No Poverty: to help internally displaced persons (IDPs) and those affected by conflict from living in poverty during the ongoing conflict
- SDG 3 Good Health & Wellbeing: to provide hygiene products to maintain the health and wellbeing of IDPs and vulnerable populations
- SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities: to support the safe migration of vulnerable populations by supporting shelters providing them refuge
- SDG 17 Partnerships à Partnering to work towards the goals and support vulnerable communities
By working collaboratively, organizations can extend their reach and respond more effectively to urgent humanitarian needs.
