During the holidays it is a perfect time to give thanks and share in the deep-seated conviction that community is family. Mountaire Farms recognizes Interstate Container as one of the family and presented them with their coveted Supplier Appreciation Award for “Their continued support and innovative design contributions to the communities where they live, work, play and pray.”
Interstate Container, is a Cambridge, Maryland box company that exclusively made and contributed more than 17,000 corrugated boxes to provide Thanksgiving meals to more than 45,000 Delmarva residents and for 18,000 residents at the Mountaire plant in North Carolina during the Thanksgiving holiday. And they returned in December to contribute more than 3,000 boxes to Mountaire’s Thanksgiving at Christmas food program to feed another 6,000 Delmarva residents.
Mountaire’s Thanksgiving for Thousands, a program that began 20 years ago, aims to foster a spirit of community and lasting partnership among residents, companies, and many other contributors all along the Delmarva Peninsula. Last year the program expanded to include Mountaire’s Lumber Bridge, NC facility and surrounding community.
To that end, hundreds of volunteers, including employees from Mountaire and Interstate Container, work together to pack the 17,000 dinner boxes in time for the Holidays.
Every box distributed provides the necessary ingredients to cook a nutritious dinner for a family of four. These ingredients include a Mountaire roaster, corn, string beans, yams, stuffing mix, gravy, cranberry sauce and brownie mix.
According to Ron Pittington, Director of Purchasing at Mountaire Farms, “Mountaire is pleased to present a community-minded partner with this award as a “Successful Partner through Mutual Operational Excellence.”
