Unipak successfully passes Hazard Analysis and Critical Points (HACCP) and FEFCO Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) renewal audits, conducted by certifying body TUV Nord CERT Gmbh. These quality-assurance certifications ensure Unipak corrugated packaging products safe for food contact and free from any source of contamination.
The audit took place at Unipak corrugated packaging manufacturing plant in Halat, Lebanon on 23 – 25 January 2012. Nabajyoti Dutta, TUV Nord Cert Lead Auditor – Quality & Food Safety, conducted the 3-day audit in accordance with the certification body’s auditing and certification procedures.
Unipak’s renewed HACCP certification will remain valid for 3 years and the FEFCO GMP re-certification for 1 year. The corrugated packaging manufacturer first received HACCP certification in 2009 and the FEFCO GMP in 2010.

About Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Certification
HACCP is a management system aimed at ensuring food safety by identifying potential hazards and putting forth key actions to reduce or eliminate the risk. Food safety is addressed through analysis of chemical, biological, and physical hazards. The system is used at all stages, from raw material production through to packaging, distribution and consumption of food products.[1]
About FEFCO Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Certification
The European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO), an information and competence center for the corrugated industry, promotes corrugated packaging by providing those in the industry with information, know-how, and support. The FEFCO International Good Manufacturing Practice standard (GMP) certifies corrugated packaging compliant to food industry hygiene, safety, and quality standards.[2]
