INDEVCO invited Arcenciel to coach HR and line managers from various business units in Lebanon on the importance of including people with disabilities in the workplace and the untapped value that these individuals have to offer. The workshop took place on 8 March 2019, at INDEVCO industrial complex in Zouk Mosbeh, Lebanon.
The Lebanese non-profit organization’s ‘Inclusion Training’ workshop focused on the social and economic integration of persons with needs in the community, as well as provided basic etiquette, tips, and practical information to assist INDEVCO further in hiring and empowering persons with disabilities. The 6-hour workshop also presented critical statistics on mental and intellectual impairment, visual, hearing and physical impairment, and law 220/2000 in Lebanon.
The collaboration coincides with INDEVCO’s commitment to enhance the work environment and increase inclusion of people with disabilities.
Diversity & Inclusion at INDEVCO
In accordance with INDEVCO’s philosophy and its organizational responsibility towards the community, the Chairman and CEO supported the implementation of Law 220/2000, which takes effect in October 2019, administering the privileges of disabled persons. This initiative additionally underpins INDEVCO’s responsibility to diversity and inclusion, with member companies empowering employees with disabilities.
INDEVCO family currently includes over 40 employees with disabilities, including down syndrome, paralysis, amputations, mobility and dexterity impairments, and speech difficulties. INDEVCO recruitment team carefully matches candidates with disabilities to job opportunities that align with their competencies, technical knowhow, and physical and mental requirements pertaining to safety in a manufacturing environment.
INDEVCO business units are working to equip facilities to best accommodate different employee special needs. Currently plants and offices offer reserved parking, disabled access into buildings and restrooms with safe passageways, floor designations, and appropriate signage.
Facilitating employment and economic inclusion of persons with disabilities aligns with UN SDG8 Decent Work and Economic Growth (Target 8.5) and SDG10 Reduced Inequalities (Target 10.2) to achieve full, productive and decent work, as well as promote the social and economic inclusion of all.
