Phoenix Energy Participates in EcOrient 2016 Conference

Phoenix Energy participated in EcOrient 2016 Conference that took place concurrently with Project Lebanon 2016 in BIEL, Beirut from 31 May till 3 June.

Phoenix Energy, Lebanese renewable energy solutions provider, took part in EcOrient 2016 Conference held in BIEL, Beirut, addressing waste management challenges in Lebanon. In light of Lebanon’s current waste crisis, EcOrient 2016 Conference was dedicated to waste management solutions. The conference evolved around the Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform (OMSAR) presentation in the first part of it, and around recycling in Lebanon in its second part.

Rabih Osta, Phoenix Group of Companies’ Area General Manager, spoke about the waste-to-energy process that Phoenix adopts in order to address the shortage in electricity and the greenhouse gas emissions in Lebanon. Other OMSAR speakers joined him to discuss waste management techniques, EU waste management projects (SWAM I&II, ARLA…), procurement phases. Key speakers were: Mohammad Baraki (Project Manager), Patil Mardigian (Coordination and Monitoring Officer), and Youssef Saad (Head of Procurement Team).

H.E.M Nabil de Freij, Minister of State for Administrative Reform opened the ceremony along with Marcello Mori, Head of Sustainable development section at the EU Delegation in Lebanon. The following key actors concluded the conference addressing recycling challenges in Lebanon: Ibrahim Mallah (President of Sustainable Development, Energy & Environment Committee), Sami Raphael (Operations Manager at Solicar SAL), Nada Sabra (National Consultant at UNIDO), Ramza Kamel (Quality Manager of Medical Waste Management at Arcenciel), and Sami Haidamous (Soliver Recycle).
