INDEVCO Plastics (IP) division, in collaboration with INDEVCO Global Communications & Sustainability Management department, initiated a PET bottle recycling project with Collège des Soeurs des Saints-Cœurs Kfarhbab (SSCC) and Collège Saint Joseph d’Antoura (CSJA) in Lebanon.
Promoting the effective segregation and recycling of PET bottles, INDEVCO Plastics provided the participating schools with corrugated and plastic waste bins to distribute across classrooms and outdoor areas to ease disposal for students. Subsequently, IP will collect the PET bottles, use electric vehicles to transfer them to the recycling facility in Zouk Mosbeh, and regenerate recycled resins for plastic converting.
On 26 April 2024, the INDEVCO Sustainability team along with IP Sales Enablement & Business Development team visited SSCC to deliver 260 corrugated bins and 4 plastic bins for PET bottle segregation, as well as a one-hour awareness session for 556 students across primary, complementary, and secondary classes. The presentation highlighted the importance of plastic recycling and encouraged students to actively participate in PET bottle segregation and recycling efforts.
On 29 April, INDEVCO teams conducted another awareness session at CSJA for 60 students, the eco-délégués of all classes, reinforcing the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices, as well as provided 100 corrugated bins and 4 plastic bins for PET bottle segregation.
This initiative emphasizes INDEVCO’s commitment to the circular economy of plastics, demonstrating a proactive approach to preserving the environment and fostering community engagement. Through collaborative efforts with educational institutions, INDEVCO strives to empower students and foster a culture of sustainability for a greener future.
