INDEVCO Consultancy Sustainability Strategy & Governance Manager, Gacia Apikian, introduced elementary students in years 1 through 6 to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across multiple sessions held on 10, 17, and 24 May 2023 at Abbas Heart Montessori School campus in Lagos, Nigeria.
The sessions provided the students, aged 5 – 12, an introduction to sustainability, Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) concerns, and the UN SDGs. During the sessions, Apikian explained to the children the importance of caring for the environment, society, and economy, reducing negative footprints, and leaving positive fingerprints.
This initiative is part of INDEVCO’s ongoing efforts to empower the youth with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the future and aligns with INDEVCO’s commitment to UN SDG 4 for Quality Education and UN SDG 17 for Partnerships for the Goals.
INDEVCO joined as a member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, in 2017, playing an active role in supporting the UN SDGs. The group’s sustainability efforts address 9 out of 17 SDGs. In addition, INDEVCO’s Sustainability Strategy & Governance consultant, Apikian, has been a member of the UNGC Network Lebanon’s board of directors since 2020, working towards achieving the objectives of the Network in Lebanon, which include promoting the UN Global Compact Ten Principles and the SDGs.
