Interstate Paper Industries Achieves OHSAS 18001:2007 Certification

Interstate Paper Industries receives OHSAS 18001:2007 certification on 30 December 2013, ensuring a secure work environment and team well-being. The OHSAS 18001:2007 certification confirms that “Interstate Paper Industries operates an Occupational Health and Safety Management system which complies with the requirements of BS OHSAS 18001:2007 for manufacturing paper tissue rolls”.

The audit, conducted by third party auditing body British Standards Institution (BSI), covered all Interstate Paper Industries’ processes. It ensures that the tissue mill implements a sound occupational health and safety system (OH&S) by controlling risks consistent with OH&S policy and objectives. In balance with socio-economic needs, OHSAS 18001:2007 sets best practices to reduce workplace hazards, boost employee morale, and increase productivity.

OHSAS certification audit took place at Interstate Paper Industries manufacturing plant in Sadat City, Egypt. Engineer Mohammed Hassanin, Consultant and Lead Auditor for Quality, Environment, and OHS Management Systems, carried out the 2-stage OHSAS certification audit. Stage one of the audit was completed on 3 November, while Stage 2 took place from 12-14 November 2013.
